Brands and artisans want to sell their wares. Retailers want to find and stock products that their customers love. Faire Wholesale can help independent brands and retailers meet their goals. Faire’s searchable platform supports both of these parties by connecting people who make products with people who sell them.
Joining this platform provides big brands and small businesses with access to a broad network of retail opportunities. Learn about how selling on Faire Wholesale works, best practices for creating a wholesale strategy, and answers to frequently asked questions about the selling process.
What is Faire Wholesale?
Faire Wholesale is a business-to-business (B2B) wholesale marketplace platform. The platform resembles popular consumer marketplaces like Etsy and Amazon in that Faire sellers sell products through individual profiles. Buyers use the platform to search, browse, and compare wholesale products in one place. Unlike a consumer marketplace, only approved Faire accounts can place orders; buyers must sign up and verify their business to gain access.
According to company data, hundreds of thousands of unique wholesale customers placed Faire orders in 2025. This robust user base makes the platform an appealing option for sellers focused on growth. Sock Candy, for example, used Faire to launch its wholesale efforts. Although the brand is primarily direct-to-consumer (DTC), founder Mary Gui believes in diversification as a hedge in a changing retail landscape.
“It has been really amazing for us,” Mary says on an episode of the Shopify Masters podcast. “We have gained so many new retailers through Faire. I really do see the value in wholesale, because what’s valuable is placing your products in stores, in person, in front of the customer.”
Faire’s network can help buyers find relevant products and keep them in stock.
“Sourcing is always challenging,” says Matthew Burrows, co-founder of native plant nursery Plant Material, on Shopify Masters. “We’ve had distribution dry up. There’s not always a clear answer why, but that’s out of my control. So we’re always trying to find different avenues of sourcing the goods that we historically have carried.” When traditional sourcing methods fall short, Faire offers a way to fill the gap or even an avenue to find a new, long-term supplier.
How selling on Faire Wholesale works
Faire Wholesale provides a built-in client network, marketing tools, and payment and invoicing services. In exchange, it takes a commission on new relationships introduced on the marketplace. This trade-off may be worth it to some business owners. Here’s how it works, from the application stage to order fulfillment:
Application process
To sell wholesale goods on the platform, you must apply to join Faire. Luckily, the application process is extremely simple. You can request an account by submitting a form with basic information like your company website, product category, and social media handles.
Faire’s team uses these application details to learn more about your brand and make a decision. Approval is not a guarantee, and every application is reviewed holistically. According to stated policies, they consider a “variety of factors,” including “the supply/demand of the given product category,” a brand’s location, and elements of your existing business, including “how established the brand is.”
The review process is intended to preserve platform quality for both buyers and sellers. Faire is looking for unique, high-quality vendors. Your chances of getting approved are higher if you offer a specialty or low-competition product, and if you have some experience with fulfilling wholesale orders.
Building your storefront
After your application is accepted, Faire sends a link to an onboarding form that walks you through account creation. You’ll provide details about where you will sell and ship items, the minimum order quantity (MOQ) buyers will need to order from you, and how much your products cost. If you’re active on other wholesale platforms, be sure to use consistent pricing. Faire policies prohibit using higher prices on the platform.
There are three options for uploading your product catalog:
-
Sync with Shopify. Use the Faire App for Shopify to import product titles, category information, and photos directly from your Shopify account. This is a fast way to upload your catalogue.
-
Manual upload. Upload photos, add titles, and input product information manually for each product.
-
Get help from Faire. Upload a spreadsheet following Faire’s product catalog template and let Faire’s team create listings for you.
If you choose to get help from Faire, it may take seven to 10 business days before your shop is up and running. With Shopify integration or manual upload, you can open in as little as one day.
Commission structure and fees
Platform fees vary depending on your location. For sellers based in North America, Faire charges a 15% commission fee on standard sales and an additional $10 new business fee on a buyer’s first order.
These fees apply only to buyers who discover your brand on Faire. Existing customers can use your Faire Direct link to place orders with zero commission fees.
All orders are also subject to a payment processing fee. Processing fees are structured as follows:
-
Next day payout: 3.5% + 30¢
-
30-day payout: 2.4% + 30¢
-
60-day payout: 1.9% + 30¢
Faire’s policies require that sellers use consistent pricing. The wholesale price that you set on Faire must match your prices on other wholesale websites, including your own, or you risk account suspension or deprioritization.
If you’re already in the wholesale business, double-check that you have a consistent, competitive pricing strategy before you set up shop. Use your current prices to calculate your profit margins for Faire sales, taking platform fees into account.
Faire provides this formula for calculating payouts:
Payout amount = (order subtotal) + (shipping reimbursement) – (commission) – (payment processing fee)
Order fulfillment
Sellers are responsible for packing and shipping orders placed through Faire. Faire offers a shipping program that provides discounted rates and automatically adds shipping costs to customer invoices. If you want to use your own method, you can purchase shipping labels from your preferred partner and manually enter the cost on the Faire Brand Portal. This amount will be added to the customer invoice, and Faire will reimburse you on your payout date.
Brands can also offer free shipping to retailers on Faire through the Faire Insider Partnership Program. Faire Insider is a subscription program for retailers offering early access and free shipping on select brands. By becoming a Faire Insider Partner, brands can fuel their growth on the marketplace by lowering their order cost to more retailers. Faire will cover the shipping costs for a brand’s order from eligible Insiders, with brands covering only the shipping costs from eligible Insiders that place an order via Faire Direct, meaning they have zero commission.
Faire is also currently piloting two fulfillment programs: Fulfilled by Faire and Faire Source. These services offer product warehousing and shipping management, but are currently only available to a small selection of brands.
Best practices for selling on Faire Wholesale
- Complete your profile as soon as you’re approved
- Promote your Faire Direct tools as much as possible
- Optimize your product listings with descriptions and tags
- Use high-quality imagery
Think of Faire as part social media platform, part search engine, and part marketing channel. A strong aesthetic, smart keyword strategy, and solid pricing strategy can help you achieve wholesaling success:
Complete your profile as soon as you’re approved
Don’t drag your feet once you’re approved. Storefronts receive free promotion from Faire during their first 30 days. During this time, your products may be featured in a new arrivals category, and Faire may offer shipping discounts or other incentives to motivate buyers.
Take advantage of this promotional period by uploading your entire product catalog and filling out profile details, product pricing, and descriptions right away. Complete your profile in a timely fashion using the same information from your own store or your own website. This will ensure that all of your products benefit from the increased visibility and that your business looks professional while it’s in the spotlight. Consider offering international shipping to increase your potential buyer pool.
Promote your Faire Direct tools as much as possible
Faire’s commission fee is a factor to consider as it impacts wholesale profit margins. However, this charge applies only to retailers who discover your brand through the platform. You don’t have to pay a commission fee if buyers use your Faire Direct link, even if they don’t make a purchase right away.
Promote your unique Faire direct link, QR code, or widget to improve your profit margins and reduce fees. Consider including your direct link in your email signature, website footer, FAQ page, and anywhere else you mention wholesaling.
Optimize your product listings with descriptions and tags
Retailers can shop the Faire marketplace by searching for specific terms, applying filters, or browsing product categories. Adding tags that describe your product or business, such as organic or woman-owned, ensures that your brand is included when buyers apply relevant filters.
Faire uses product descriptions to match listings with user queries. Write robust, accurate descriptions so your products appear in the right search results. For the best results, Faire recommends writing descriptions between 150 and 300 characters long and using the trending on Faire tool to identify relevant keywords.
Use high-quality imagery
On ecommerce platforms, buyers use imagery to evaluate products. Using crisp, focused, and well-lit product photography helps your storefront appear professional and form a positive first impression.
Faire recommends uploading at least four visual assets, either photos or videos, for each product. Consider including a variety of image styles. Simple product shots on a white background and photos of packaging show buyers what to expect. Lifestyle images with props and sets can help capture buyer attention and demonstrate how to style your product.
Faire requires square images (1:1 aspect ratio) with a minimum size of 600 by 600 pixels.
